Nice pic Trev! Haha!

Was hoping I could make it in today...not looking good (and anyone who really knows me understands how difficult it is for me to skip a WOD, let alone 2 in a row, and working on my third rest day)! I still can't stand up all the way cuz my abs are rocked and for some reason they are still really swollen. I feel like I gained ten pounds of fluid all in my abs due to Saturday. It's freaking me out man!!! :P If anyone has some quick recovery tips...please, please lemme have em'!

drink a lot of water but make sure you don't throw your electrolytes off! Add in emergen-c or something with lytes. Hopefully it's not full blown rhabdo :( When I dealt with it it took about 2 weeks for the fluid retention to fully go away... unfortunately. Take it easy!!

Candice, thank god I hear you say that because I am the same way and have been uneasy about it all day. Maybe we should come in and take "beer belly" photos. LOL.

candice

1. get moving in some way. run, air squats, push ups. anything that doesn't use the abs too much.

2. take an anti inflamatory of some kind. lots of them.

3. plenty of water.

4. if your pee turns the color of coke a cola, get to the emergency room.

I think Ken's 4th point applies at all times.

ken c said...

indeed. pee should not be the color of coke a cola. that goes for the rest of you as well.

I appreciate all the tips everyone!! Hopefully I can stop freaking out!

Buzzard,
You are not the only one to be uneasy bout the swell belly and let me tell you, I have been bothering the hell out of my husband since saturday asking him all kinds of questions about my "water bed belly,"... "it's swollen right? I mean, I couldn't gain all kinds of weight on my abs in fat overnight, right?! Am I pregnant?!" Haha! Hoping it goes away SOONER than LATER for the both of us!

Candice,
I made this suggestion to Buzzard today : fill your tub up with the hottest water you can stand and dump a bunch of epsom salts in it (found at any drugstore). Then soak your troubles and hopefully your swelling, away. No guarantees, but it may help.

Yours In Health,
Steve

man my skipping of saturdays wod is looking better and better. Oh Candice that really sucks. Any bruising? I guess the diagnosis possibilities are really only strained or torn abdominal or rhabdo. I think a commenter on the main site named strong lil pony had rhabdo a few months back and she said her pee color did not change. Of course if you start having constitutional symptoms like fever, chills, achiness, etc, get to the hospital stat but for now rest with fluids should do you. Hopefully you will be back soon but listen to your body and know that even if you have to rest for a week or two you will not lose much if anything. You are young and a beast!

Candice and Buzzard, I personally think ICE, ICE, ICE!!! I dont have MD behind my name, however, abs are muscles and if they are that swollen, get in a damn ice tub!!!! When i was super freaked over my popeye arms ice helped tremendously as well as ibuprofen q4-6hrs..... That was a killer WOD!! Poor Peeps!! I Srry!!!!
