Some words from Scott, Niki's husband about the event.Very nice.
I wanted to say thanks…to you, your wife, your family and everyone else involved in hosting the SWQUALS. A lot of folks say thanks to be polite, but I am truly saying THANK YOU. You see, a very last minute decision was made for me to no compete thanks to a shoulder injury. It was one of the toughest decisions I’ve had to make in a lot of years...4 years in the Marine Corps, 11 yrs in TX Highway Patrol, sure I’ve had some tough decisions, but having to swallow pride and realize I couldn’t compete was one of the toughest. Matter of fact it took my girlfriend, Nikki (she placed 5th), talking some sense into me on Saturday morning before I realized the truth. Despite the disappointment of stepping down, I can still say it was an amazing weekend that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Partly due to Nikki’s performance and our ability to be doing what we do…pushing each other to our limits…in this case me losing my voice pushing her. But it’s also due to the way y’all ran the event. From the wods picked (tough but fair..perfect combinations) to the no bullshit way yall set the standards and ensured that the standards were followed. Your facility is incredible, and Hell’s Half Acre is the best I’ve seen, a crossfitter’s dream playground. A slap on the back to, I’m assuming your dad, for all the pipe work, outstanding. Having the big screen for not only the spectators, but also the athletes to watch was a nice touch. When I saw GSX was hosting a Cert in July I signed up for it because it made sense financially being that I live just north of Austin. A little over a year ago Nikki and I were at One World for her Level 1. Even though I’m a firm believer in “we all put our pants on one leg at a time” it was still pretty cool watching Nikki work with Boz, Nicole, Jolie, Barber, Freddie etc and I can remember thinking that it would have been cool to go back to One World for my level 1. But after this last weekend, seeing your facility, gaining respect for how yall run things, watching you talk about your passion during the awards ceremony, I can honestly say I wouldn’t get my Level 1 anywhere else then GSX.
I don’t waste my time saying things I don’t mean and I won’t blow sunshine up someone’s ass. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for all your efforts in making the SWQUALS a damn near perfect Crossfit event.
I love what we have been honored to have a chance to do. Nobody in our area does it better! We got good folks, awesome crossfit family, the best facility in the state if not nation, and a vision bigger than Montana skies!
